Mother Teresa
This photo shows two of the most significant women of the twentieth century. Queen Elizabeth visited India multiple times throughout her lifetime. She went there when it was under British rule and later an independent state. Here she meets Mother Teresa, a woman with a lasting impact on Indian society.

Mother Teresa came from Albania but moved to India in 1950. Then she spent the rest of her life caring for the destitute and dying in Calcutta’s slums. She became an iconic figure and an inspiration to many people around the world. Indians revered her because of her dedication to this amazing task (via The Hindu).
