These Horrible Bosses Got Called Out By The Internet

Monica October 18, 2023

Getting along with your coworkers makes work much more enjoyable. Suddenly, working at the office doesn’t feel like a chore, and having a stress-free workplace can even make your work more productive. Unfortunately, on the other hand, horrible bosses make the workplace a stressful and annoying place to be. These bosses may even create so much anxiety that going to work creates enough tension to make you quit.

We’ve collected some of the best stories online about horrible bosses that were called out online by their employees. Let’s just say that these bosses deserve to be fired. But these callouts prove there’s still justice in the world. These bosses didn’t show compassion for their employees who lost loved ones or were suffering from horrendous illnesses, set up hidden cameras to keep an eye on their employees, and had unreasonably high expectations for them. Let’s just say these horrible bosses deserved the bad karma they got from people on the internet.

Reddit

Extra Set Of Eyes

Eight-year-olds have wild imaginations. When they tell a story, it’s common knowledge to take it with a grain of salt. We’re wondering why this boss brought her child to work. This person had to deal with one of those horrible bosses that not only brought their eight-year-old to work, but had the daughter report who wasn’t working.

Shutterstock

Using an eight-year-old isn’t the most reliable way to snoop on your employees. The child then proceeded to lie to their mom about this employee, who only walked past their coworker’s desk to say hi. Based on their post, it seems like they’re going to quit soon (via Reddit).

Collapsed Lung

When someone has a health problem, the only thing we can do for them is support them and feel compassion for them. They’re already not feeling well and are under a lot of stress, so any added negative feelings will only make them feel worse. This Reddit user shares their experience of having a collapsed lung, which sounds downright terrifying.

Shutterstock

You need your lungs to breathe, and if one of them isn’t operating correctly, then who knows what could happen. They had to miss work because of this, which is understandable. They couldn’t catch a break, though, because four months later, they had to have surgery for another health problem. Unfortunately, they had one of those horrible bosses who didn’t feel compassion or understand what they were going through and instead gave them a disciplinary hearing. Let’s hope they ended up quitting that job (via Reddit).

Food Is In The House

‘Stop Being A Victim’

There are so many things wrong with this. First of all, this worker took time off and clearly stated when he was going to work. The boss misunderstood and tried putting words in his mouth. Secondly, this guy’s dad just passed away. Of course, he’s not going to work. Unfortunately, he works for one of those horrible bosses that don’t have any compassion whatsoever and told him to “stop playing the victim.”

Shutterstock

He also brought up the death of his uncle and grandma, literally putting his own mourning down. Let the employee grieve. This internet user had one of the best responses ever. Not only did he quit, but he also told the boss to go fu** himself. What a jerk (via Food Is In The House).

Food Is In The House

PTO

Paid time off means exactly what it says. No one wants to work during their paid time off. If they do, then it’s just like any normal work day. There are some horrible bosses out there who don’t have any boundaries, just like this guy’s boss. He and his wife were out of town, but his boss still insisted he help him out with something.

Shutterstock

He could’ve saved them both the trouble and just asked the help desk how to get into the building, but instead bothered his employee while he was on vacation. Because he’s legitimately out of the office, there was nothing he could do. All in all, the boss just ended up wasting both of their time. It seems like he needs to research what paid time off means, otherwise, he’s going to lose all of his employees (via Food Is In The House).

Reddit

Have Dinner Another Night

Some people have horrible bosses who believe the world revolves around them and their schedules like this boss. They asked this Reddit user to stay a few hours after their shift ended, even though they had dinner plans that could not be rescheduled. Their army friend was shipping out the following day.

Shutterstock

This boss needs a reality check. Something as important as the army can’t wait. Let’s hope this Reddit user ended up going to the dinner and getting out of their shift because there are some things in life that are too important to miss (via Reddit).

Reddit

Make Them Cry

Bosses should have their employee’s backs. Unfortunately, that’s not always the case. There are some horrible bosses out there that try and make their employees’ lives miserable. We’re not sure why it’s like this, but it just is.

Shutterstock

This boss told their employee that she didn’t consider the training job done until she made them cry. Who says that? That’s a huge red flag and a good reason to leave that workplace. We’re not sure what kind of restaurant they’re running, but it sounds horrible (via Reddit).

Food Is In The House

Call Me In The Morning

At least this internet user managed to get out of extra midnight work that was not their fault. They have one of those horrible bosses that don’t understand boundaries. How could they expect their employee to work at midnight? Unless you’re a doctor trying to save someone’s life, there’s no reason you’d expect your employee to work at midnight.

Shutterstock

It’s refreshing to see that this employee put his boss in their place because they seriously need a good slap back into reality. Just because they’re up working until the early hours, doesn’t mean their employees have to (via Food Is In The House).

Food Is In The House

Priorities

It seems like it’s a common theme that horrible bosses expect their employees to put work above everything else. Family time is incredibly important, so props to this person for putting their foot down and showing their boss… who’s boss.

Shutterstock

Not only did they stick up for themselves and their family time, but they ended up quitting in the end. It sounds like it was a long time coming and this was the final straw. Now, that boss has no employee to do the work on their Sunday off. They made a huge mistake expecting their employee to drop everything for a last-minute shift on a weekend (via Food Is In The House).

Food Is In The House

Closed, We All Quit

These employees had such a horrendous experience working, that they all decided to quit. Horrible bosses that lose their employees all at once have a lot to learn. If they all quit, they must’ve been treating their employees so badly.

Shutterstock

That boss is at a huge inconvenience and has to spend the next few weeks getting their act together and hiring a bunch of new employees. They also need to learn how to treat their staff better (via Food Is In The House).

Reddit

Knife Thrower

Working for horrible bosses that yell and scream is one thing, but working for horrible bosses that throw knives around the kitchen is entirely another thing. Imagine making one mistake and suddenly you see a knife soaring across the room. No, thanks. These employees have to deal with a boss that makes the kitchen downright dangerous.

Shutterstock

No one should have to work in a kitchen where there’s a chance of getting stabbed in the eye by a flying knife. This boss seriously has some anger issues he needs to look at. He shouldn’t be in a workplace with sharp objects either (via Reddit).

Reddit

Fat Jokes

Self-deprecating jokes come from insecure people. A lot of the time, they’re really sad inside and self-conscious about how they look. This Reddit user has one of those horrible bosses that make self-deprecating jokes about himself, but when other people do the same sort of jokes, he gets mad at them. That’s understandable, but also pretty frustrating.

Shutterstock

There shouldn’t even be a work environment where people make fat jokes, but that’s how it is. Let’s hope this employee ended up leaving that toxic environment for a better one (via Reddit).

Reddit

That’s What She Said

Horrible bosses that make cringe-worthy jokes should just leave. Period. There’s nothing worse than sitting at your desk and having your boss make a “that’s what she said” joke, multiple times per day. This boss is also prone to wasting time. He just sounds like a boss you don’t want to work for.

Shutterstock

There are also a lot of ways he could offend someone, especially if he makes a joke at the wrong time. It’s hilarious that he ended up leaving and moving to Colorado. Hopefully, the workplace got a lot more enjoyable after he left (via Reddit).

Food Is In The House

Feel Better Faster

We can’t control illnesses. When we get a virus, there are ways we can make ourselves feel better, like resting, but we can’t control how quickly the virus exits our body. The worst thing we can do when we’re sick is to stress ourselves out. This boss clearly doesn’t understand how viruses work and told their employee they have a time limit to get better.

Shutterstock

They sound like one of those horrible bosses that think their employee’s world revolves around work. It’s wonderful they expressed that they’re their number one employee, but seriously, let the guy rest. He’s sick (via Food Is In The House).

Food Is In The House

Tips For The Boss

Waiters work hard. It’s common knowledge that they make minimum wage, most of which goes to taxes, which is why they rely heavily on tips. They do all the work and deserve every penny. This establishment has one of those horrible bosses that clearly doesn’t appreciate all of the hard work from their employees and instead takes advantage of them by taking their tips.

Shutterstock

That’s outrageous and uncalled for. All the boss has to do is sit in the office and deal with the background tasks of running a restaurant. The employees are the ones interacting with the customers (via Food Is In The House).

Reddit

Gossip Boss

Some people in life never leave their teenage years. They’re stuck with a teenage mind and rely on gossip and backstabbing to get through life. Unfortunately, that only goes so far. It’s even worse when horrible bosses resort to this type of behavior.

Shutterstock

This Reddit user shares their experience with their gossip boss, who constantly ratted on her employees. When they’d go to her with something confidential, she’d immediately tell one girl who she knew would spread the news. Not only that, but when the girl found out people were talking about her, she’d bully them. This sounds like one of the most horrific workplaces in the world (via Reddit).

Food Is In The House

Close Enough

Horrible bosses also tend to be cheapskates. For some reason, it seems like those two go hand in hand together. This boss made his employees feel bad when he pretended to get them the newest Mac but used a DELL computer instead. All they did was place an old PC behind the exterior screen of a Mac.

Shutterstock

That’s pretty horrendous and almost like poking fun at their employees. Maybe he needs to get his act together so he can pay his employees more, so they could afford a Mac (via Food Is In The House).

Food Is In The House

Freedom Of Expression

It’s obvious when horrible bosses make their employees wear certain attire to work. Depending on the job, it makes sense that some workplaces require a uniform or suit. But this boss just rubbed it in. He offered a free jeans day as if they were children at school. That’s just ridiculous.

Shutterstock

It looks like these employees probably prefer to work from home from now on, comfortably, in their sweatpants. The worst part is that the boss could’ve offered any other gift, like a bottle of wine or even a monetary bonus. Instead, he gave them a coupon for a free jeans day (via Food Is In The House).

Food Is In The House

Sober Up

If only we could sober up with the snap of a finger. Many problems and predicaments we’ve gotten ourselves into would be solved. This guy is one of those horrible bosses that believes you can just sober up all of a sudden. He told his employee, who was over two hours away in Michigan, to sober up and get to work.

Shutterstock

He was on vacation. His boss completely ignored that and asked him to come in anyway. It’s ridiculous and overstepped his boundaries. This boss needs to take a step back and appreciate that his employees have a life of their own and will not always be at their beck and call (via Food Is In The House).

Food Is In The House

Hidden Camera

This is one of those horrible bosses that deserve to go to jail. Not only was he watching his employees in the bathroom, but he was overstepping every single boundary of his employees.

Shutterstock

When you go into the bathroom, you go in there not only to use the toilet but to have privacy. You don’t expect a hidden camera in the bathroom. They could seriously get their boss in trouble if they wanted to. It’s illegal on so many levels. We wouldn’t just quit, we’d call the cops and let them know what happened. If he isn’t caught now, who knows if he’ll stop (via Food Is In The House).

Food Is In The House

Jealous Boss

These employees returned from an incredible week at Burning Man only to discover their boss suddenly required a random drug test. He knows exactly what they’ve been up to, so it’s a bit ridiculous that he’d require them to pee into a cup and test for drugs. It sounds more like he’s jealous of all the fun they had.

Shutterstock

Soon, he’s not going to have any more employees and instead needs to work extra hard to hire and train an entirely new team. Sometimes, it seems like horrible bosses are out there just to make our lives miserable. That’s pretty awkward (via Food Is In The House).

Reddit

Fifteen Minutes Early

Arriving early at the office is a refreshing way to start the day. You’re not stressed, and you have plenty of time to relax before your co-workers show up. Those 15 minutes allow you to grab a cup of coffee, sit in your seat, and enjoy the silence before the chaos.

Shutterstock

That is if you’re not working for one of those horrible bosses that tend to get angry over nothing. This Reddit user shared their experience with their boss who yelled at them for not doing any work when they were 15 minutes early and no one else had shown up to the office yet. There’s no reason to yell at someone before they clock in for the day (via Reddit).

Reddit

10 Things You Should Know

Horrible bosses love rubbing in the fact that they’re better than their employees. It doesn’t make any sense, considering the office should be a place where everyone’s part of a team. For some reason, this boss wants everyone to know that he’s above them and does not know how to do their job, meaning they have to do their job on their own.

Shutterstock

It’s sad because employees usually look up to their boss with questions about their job. How are they supposed to learn? It seems like he just dishes out tasks without having any prior knowledge about the job itself. Maybe these employees need a new boss (via Reddit).

Reddit

Left Speechless

When horrible bosses try to prove a point, they’re usually wrong. They’re the types of bosses that have their egos in the way and only see what they want to see. They think everyone else is wrong and they’re right. It creates stress and unease in the workplace. Usually, it’s better not to work in a place like that.

Shutterstock

This Reddit user shared their experience with a boss who threatened to fire them for not doing enough work. Meanwhile, they had done four times the amount of work than the boss’s son. The boss had nothing to argue against that and just walked away. That shows him (via Reddit).

Food Is In The House

No Fun Allowed

When it’s our day off, we like to celebrate with at least a few drinks. Having no responsibilities the following day is a great excuse to let loose. This bartender did just that, and rightfully so. Since he had a day off the following day, he decided to go out and party. It’s completely understandable.

Shutterstock

What’s not understandable is having one of his horrible bosses tell him he needs to work an 11-hour shift on his day off, especially knowing he’s drunk. Also, he asked him at three in the morning. Who does that? That’s completely irresponsible. We love the bartender’s response, as he mentions that he could get a job at any other establishment and that he’s fed up with working for him. Way to go (via Food Is In The House).

Food Is In The House

Not Into The Culture

This is an employee who deserves an award. Not only did he stick up for himself and what he believes in, but he even expressed it to his horrible bosses. They need to know they’ve created a toxic workplace that needs addressing.

Shutterstock

What’s even worse is that they talk down to their employees, who make them their money. There’s no excuse for treating your employees like that. His message was respectful and he easily called out his bosses online. Hopefully, they learned a thing or two from that message (via Food Is In The House).

Food Is In The House

A Tired Ex-Employee

This is a wonderful goodbye letter. This employee expresses their feelings and reasons why they’re quitting. They also stuck up for their coworkers. Horrible bosses need some light shed on their bad behavior. When they treat their employees negatively, it’ll eventually catch up to them.

Shutterstock

We can’t understand working for someone who doesn’t give sick days, lunch breaks, or any time off in general. It’s extremely unhealthy. If you can’t take care of your health, then you can’t work. That’s just how it goes (via Food Is In The House).

Food Is In The House

Have A Good Life

It looks like horrible bosses around the world have many things in common, one of them being their huge egos. This boss didn’t give his injured employee a chance. His employee got the job done and even went above and beyond what he was supposed to do, all while injured. He was probably suffering while getting his job done, in the hopes he would impress his boss and keep his job.

Shutterstock

Sometimes, we literally can’t physically complete something because we’re hurt or injured. It’s impressive that this person even came to work, and it’s not something many people would ever do. Most of us would lie around on our couches and throw ourselves a pity party. This boss should be grateful he has a hard-working employee. It’s sad he still got in trouble even though he did exactly what he was supposed to, and more. Kudos to him for quitting. Now he can find a job that appreciates him and his efforts (via Food Is In The House).

Food Is In The House

Rub It In

Alright, there are only a few excusable reasons for an employee being late to the job. This employee doesn’t sound like they’re an employee of the year, but neither does their boss. We get that the boss is making a point with the shirt, but it seems like she’s attacking them rather than speaking with them kindly.

Shutterstock

Maybe they’re not the best employee, but that’s a lot of angry texts to send to someone. If she doesn’t like him, why doesn’t she just fire him? Either way, the two shouldn’t work together (via Food Is In The House).

Food Is In The House

Time For Another Job

When people have time off, bosses need to respect that. There’s a reason people get approved vacation days. This person has one of those horrible bosses that clearly doesn’t understand the concept of time off. They were responsible and made it clear that they were on vacation, which this boss completely ignored.

Shutterstock

They need to find another employee who isn’t off from work. We’d understand if they just decided not to come into work, but since they’re on vacation, there’s no real reason to fire them. Let’s hope this person finds another job where their boss doesn’t treat them like this (via Food Is In The House).

Reddit

No Backbone

For some reason, it seems like horrible bosses just think their employees will disappear if they cut their hours. This boss had no backbone and thought that by cutting his employee’s hours, he’d get rid of them. First, they worked 30 hours, then 20 hours, and then 0 hours. He tried to cut his hours down one by one.

Shutterstock

Maybe he thought he wouldn’t notice? It’s a pretty big cut to go from 30 hours a week to 0, especially if this is your only source of income. We get cutting hours back if you’re low on budget, but cutting them down to zero just equates to firing someone. Unfortunately, cutting hours to get rid of an employee isn’t how it works. Instead of coming face to face with his employee, this boss just disappeared. It seems like he got what he deserved, though, since he was let go several months after this Reddit user quit (via Reddit).

Food Is In The House

Grown Up Scribble

This boss thought it’d be funny to make fun of his employee’s kid’s drawing by making a scribble drawing of his own. There’s so much wrong with that. It’s adorable that this guy put up his kid’s drawing at work, and it doesn’t make any sense whatsoever that his boss made fun of him.

Shutterstock

It’s not like he put up an embarrassing photo or something offensive. It’s a little bit creepy that the boss did this. Maybe next time, he needs to hang the drawing somewhere his boss won’t see it (via Food Is In The House).

Food Is In The House

Do You Have Ebola?

This employee was having a tough time mentally and emotionally, so he decided to take his health into his own hands and take a day off. That’s extremely responsible and the only way to become a better employee. If you’re suffering internally, whether mentally or emotionally, there’s no way you can step up and be the best worker you can be.

Shutterstock

This boss doesn’t understand and told him that the only acceptable excuse is if he had ebola. That’s horrible and shows that he doesn’t care about his employees whatsoever. Horrible bosses that force their employees to put work before everything else need to be fired. Instead of showing compassion, this boss was just plain rude (via Food Is In The House).

Reddit

Go Home At 3 AM

Imagine showing up to work, only to be told you’d have to stay until one in the morning? And sometimes, even close to three? That in itself is terrible. What’s even worse is that you’d have to show up at work on time the next day.

Shutterstock

It’s already tough working on six hours of sleep, but any less than that is just horrific. We’re not sure why horrible bosses expect their employees to be super humans and work without any sleep, but it happens, and it happens often (via Reddit).

Food Is In The House

Interview Time

We understand setting up a decent time for interviews, but texting someone the night before and expecting them to receive the message on time is downright absurd. How can you expect an employee to prepare for a phone interview with less than 12 hours’ notice?

Shutterstock

It looks like a major red flag and we hope this employee ended up with a different job. Maybe they were purposefully setting them up for failure, or testing them to see how much they wanted the job. It seems like a sneaky way to get employees, and not a place that sounds genuine (via Food Is In The House).

Food Is In The House

Work Or Family

Family’s support each other. If someone in our family gets hurt, it’s common knowledge that we’re going to do anything in our power to help them. This also includes missing work. Usually, kind and considerate bosses with a heart completely understand that family matters are the most important ones in the world. They definitely surpass work.

Shutterstock

This man worked for one of those horrible bosses that think work is their number one priority. Their dad got into a horrible accident, and they dared to ask what matters more, work or family. Let’s hope this person said “family” and walked away with a clear mind (via Food Is In The House).

Food Is In The House

Good Luck

There’s more to this story than meets the eye. This person’s job was a five-mile walk away from the store, and he didn’t have a car. That means he’d have to walk home five miles in the dark. No one wants to do that.

Shutterstock

Furthermore, there must be a reason so many people are quitting. Maybe they all work for one of those horrible bosses that expects too much from them. At least this guy was honest and chose himself over the store, even though he put the store in a tough spot. It looks like they’re going to need to restaff everyone soon (via Food Is In The House).

Food Is In The House

We Hope You Fail

The reason we quit our job is none of our boss’s business. It can range from hating the job to wanting to expand in our creative outlet. Whatever the case, a boss should wish their employee farewell and good luck in their next endeavors.

Shutterstock

This person worked for one of those horrible bosses that don’t take rejection very well. Even though they went through the effort of buying them or baking them a cake, the message is very loud and clear. At least this is an affirmation that this person shouldn’t work at the job. It’s probably best they don’t take a bite of the cake, either, and instead chuck it at their boss’s face (via Food Is In The House).

Food Is In The House

Safety First

We understand why some horrible bosses would cut back on quality supplies to save a buck or two. They’re horrible, that’s why. It seems like they put safety to the side when they cut these costs, and it’s never their safety. It’s always the safety of their employees. This boss threw a piece of wobbly glass onto a drawer and thought to use that as a desk.

Shutterstock

That monitor on the left side looks like it’ll topple down at any given moment. That’s not a place we’d want to work, that’s for sure. If that monitor moved over an inch, it’d be game over (via Food Is In The House).

Reddit

Bloody-Nosed Boss

Everyone has weird quirks. This boss has one of the grossest ones out there. For some reason, he preferred to show off his bloody nose to his employees. We don’t understand it at all, considering it’s unsanitary. Luckily, this employee put her foot down and decided to tell her boss it was gross that he walks around with a bloody nose.

Shutterstock

He’s also one of those horrible bosses that are sexist. Telling someone they’re promoting males ahead of females because they have families to support is an excuse that worked in the ’50s, not now. Females have to support their families, too. It’s a good thing this girl quit her job in the end (via Reddit).

Food Is In The House

Shake It Off

This boss sounds like they’re trying to get out of paying their employee for their unused vacation days by laughing at their face. They’re not even trying to work it out with them, and are instead resorting to a bunch of emojis that serve no purpose.

Shutterstock

Frankly, he sounds immature. This employee is better off going somewhere else and working for a boss who gladly pays them for their job and unused vacation days. Horrible bosses that act like children need to be put in their place. Let’s hope the head of the HR department saw this text message exchange (via Food Is In The House).

Food Is In The House

Immature Bosses

There should be a reality TV show that talks about immature and horrible bosses. This one is just laughable. This person explicitly told their boss why they were quitting and were upfront about why they were leaving the toxic workplace. It’s also obvious that this boss is a huge part of why the workplace is toxic.

Shutterstock

Honestly, it’s not even worth this person arguing their point and trying to put their boss in their place. At the end of the day, they did their best, received their certifications, and left something that was not serving them. At this point, that’s the best they can do (via Food Is In The House).

Food Is In The House

Pay With Pennies

It’s not fun losing a bet. But it says a lot about someone’s character if they lose with dignity and pride. It also says a lot if they lose and then act like the victim, which is exactly what this boss did. Horrible bosses that are also sore losers need to leave the workplace and find another job that doesn’t involve running an entire team of adults.

Shutterstock

When this boss lost a bet, they decided to pay their employee in pennies. At least this person can easily take these tubes to the bank, but it’s still annoying. It’s not even funny, and it’s probably the last bet they ever made with them (via Food Is In The House).

Food Is In The House

Not Worth It

This one is a mouthful! It sounds like this company has a lot they need to work on regarding organization and meeting their targets. Everyone on the team is struggling, and for some reason, the rules were not made clear.

Shutterstock

This person decided they didn’t want to waste any more time with the job and sent a long message explaining the situation before quitting. They even went so far as to mention that HR is a mess, which is why they’ve resorted to a text message for quitting. We’d probably do the same. At least they don’t have to deal with one of their disorganized, horrible bosses anymore (via Food Is In The House).

Food Is In The House

Six Hours Prior

Asking someone to come into work at nine in the morning, the night before, at three in the morning, is ridiculous. Did they expect their employee to be awake? Also, why is that boss up so late? Maybe they’re stressed out and were trying to work on the schedule. Either way, horrible bosses that expect their employees to come to work at short notice need to find another job.

Shutterstock

It’s completely unreasonable and there’s no way they’re going to see that late-night message. If they do see it, chances are they’re out partying and will most likely not reply. It’s a common pattern that bosses think the world revolves around them and their job (via Food Is In The House).

Food Is In The House

No Work, No Problem

If your employee suddenly disappeared from work, what’s the first thing you’d do? Hire another person. Life is short, and time is money. Bosses, even the horrible bosses, don’t have enough time on their hands to wait around for irresponsible employees. But that’s not what happened here.

Shutterstock

This employee took time off from work, as you have every right to do. Not only did his boss cut his hours, but he hired other people to work in his place. That’s not cool. This guy needs to find another job where his time off is honored, not used against him (via Food Is In The House).

Food Is In The House

Depends On The Uncle

Someone who’s grieving deserves sympathy and compassion, especially from their workplace. It’s horrific that this boss complained about their employee who called out because of their uncle who passed away. They have every right to call out and take time for themselves and to be with their family.

Shutterstock

Horrible bosses who think their workplace takes precedence over a human life deserve bad karma. The best part about this, though, is the person’s response to their boss’s question. Their boss had no response and instead just walked away, defeated (via Food Is In The House).

Food Is In The House

Consider This Your Notice

Kudos to this bartender who stuck up for herself and put her foot down. It’s unbelievable that this boss assumed she would come in on her day off, just because Becky canceled. Why is she making it her problem? It should be Becky’s problem.

Shutterstock

Also, it shouldn’t even be legal that that boss was threatening her employee with revoking her health insurance. That’s dangerous and incredibly absurd. What if something happened to her? Luckily, this employee had enough audacity to quit her job on the spot and find something else better suited for her (via Food Is In The House).

Food Is In The House

You’re Caged

Keeping tabs on your employees is one thing, but hanging a camera above them is another. What’s even worse is this boss decided to try and mask the camera with a picture of Nicholas Cage, which doesn’t make any sense.

Shutterstock

It’s pretty obvious there’s a camera behind it, so the picture doesn’t do anything except make the boss look ridiculous. Let’s hope these employees ripped down this picture, placed it on their horrible boss’s desk, and then proceeded to quit (via Food Is In The House).

Reddit

Full Of Lies

When we apply for a job, we expect to do the job we were hired for. That’s what interviews and meetings are for. You need to prepare as much as possible before starting the job, otherwise, you’re out of luck. Sometimes, horrible bosses sneakily change their employee’s jobs and make them do something other than what they expected.

Shutterstock

This Reddit user reluctantly shares their experience with their boss, who not only paid less than what was agreed upon but also changed their job to be something other than what they were hired for (via Reddit).

Food Is In The House

Nest Of Roaches

Talk about payback! Kudos to this employee who threw their horrible bosses under the bus. They deserved it. After requesting their graduation day off, which is a pretty huge deal, K-Mart denied them. We don’t understand how they could do that or why.

Shutterstock

It’s probably one of the biggest days in anyone’s life, and there’s no way you can miss it. To get them back, they reported the nest of roaches to the health department, probably got them into loads of trouble, and were able to graduate in peace (via Food Is In The House).

Food Is In The House

Backfire

One way to prevent theft is to secure something with a wire. But when that object you’re trying to secure is a wire cutter, there’s no point. Horrible bosses come up with the worst ideas sometimes.

Shutterstock

He was trying to prevent theft and ended up making theft incredibly easy. Not only is this boss pretty stingy, but he’s also not the smartest bulb in the bunch (via Food Is In The House).

Food Is In The House

Time To Bargain

If someone asks you to come in on short notice, you better know your worth. If a boss really wants you to come in, that’s the best time to bargain your hourly pay. This employee knows what’s up and didn’t waste one second. Instead of agreeing to come in on his time off, he told his boss he’d charge three times his hourly wage and he has a deal, otherwise, he’d go in on Monday.

A lot of these employees on this list have a lot to learn from this guy. We’re curious what the boss’s response was and if he ended up agreeing (via Food Is In The House).

Step Up

When we apply for a job, it’s usually because we need cash. We don’t have enough funds to dish out hundreds of dollars on a uniform before we start our job. When horrible bosses expect us to have pockets full of cash, it’s unrealistic.

Shutterstock

At least this employee was honest and told their boss they had to order a uniform off of Amazon. We’re not sure if this boss was making a joke about the extra shift or not, but deep down he was probably serious. There’s only one way to make back all that uniform money, and that’s to pick up extra shifts (via Food Is In The House).

No Notice

We’ve seen plenty of horrible bosses asking their employees to come to work last minute, but now we’re seeing a boss asking their employees not to come to work at the last minute. It’s so last minute that they had already taken the bus to work.

Shutterstock

Now, they wasted all that time for nothing, spent money on transportation, and probably shifted plans around because they had work. There’s nothing fair in that at all. Talk about a waste of time. Let’s hope this person was compensated for their travel expenses and was able to pick up an extra shift at some point (via Food Is In The House).

Speak The Truth

This is a slap in the face. When you treat your employees with disrespect, they’re going to eventually stand up for themselves. This employee took it into his own hands and found himself a new job.

Shutterstock

Not only that, but he also told the entire truth to his boss without hesitation. Horrible bosses like this one deserve this kind of text message. He wouldn’t even give the young guy the day off for his birthday! Honestly, it probably felt so empowering sending that message because it felt pretty empowering reading it (via Food Is In The House).

Prioritize School

Working while studying is tough. You’re working two full-time jobs. Keeping up with grades and trying to pay for school at the same time isn’t easy, so props to this student for doing just that. They also sent an endearing message to their boss, who didn’t feel any compassion or sympathy for their employee. To them, working at Panera is more important than studying and getting a degree, which doesn’t make any sense.

Shutterstock

We can’t believe that a boss wouldn’t be flexible with this student’s needs, but it happens. Hopefully, they didn’t stay at that job for much longer and realized their school is more important than Panera (via Food Is In The House).

Every Hour

Could you imagine having the flu and having to answer your boss every single hour while suffering from a high fever? It’s horrific! When you have the flu, you’re usually passing in and out of sleep, slightly delusional from the fever, and too sick to even eat. Of course, you’re not well enough to go to work.

Shutterstock

This boss was probably making them sicker by calling them every single hour and preventing them from getting the rest they needed to feel better. That’s an incredibly unsupportive boss who needs a reality check. Even though this employee admits they needed money at the time, at least they realized they should’ve left the job and will probably do so in the future (via Food Is In The House).

Pepper Packets

What an awful job. Horrible bosses that make their employees do the most tedious, boring tasks need to be fired. After accidentally ordering hundreds of tiny pepper packets instead of a large bag of pepper, this boss made their employee sit there and cut open each packet, one by one, and pour it into a container.

Shutterstock

It looks like this person is going to sit there for a while. It’s a hilarious picture, to say the least, but one of the most tedious tasks in the world. This boss should just put out those packets for customers to use and order a large packet of paper so this person doesn’t have to sit there and do that (via Food Is In The House).

Medical Emergency

Not showing up to work is a big problem, especially in a busy workplace. But an even bigger problem is someone who almost died from an allergic reaction and ended up in the hospital. That’s no laughing matter. Horrible bosses never seem to understand how dangerous medical emergencies can be, and how quickly things can go south. If this person had waited any longer, they would probably never come to work again. Or anywhere else for that matter.

Shutterstock

This boss is lucky their employee is okay and isn’t suffering any major ill effects from the allergic reaction. They didn’t even show any sympathy whatsoever, and instead made it out to be a huge problem. Hopefully, this person took that as a red flag and found another job where their health is respected (via Food Is In The House).

Know Your Rights

Turning your work phone off outside of working hours makes a lot of sense. It’s expected, considering you’re off the clock once you clock out. Something is wrong if an employee expects you to have your phone on during working hours.

Shutterstock

At least this person knew their rights and explained they were allowed to have their phone off after work. That’s called boundaries. Let’s hope their boss understood and didn’t try to make them turn on their phone again outside of their paid work hours (via Food Is In The House).

Expired Tacos

This horrible boss needs to be reported to the health department as soon as possible. It’s incredibly dangerous to serve expired food to customers. There’s an array of health problems that can come with serving expired food.

Shutterstock

Someone could technically sue them if they found out. We can’t believe he’s telling his employee off for following the food guidelines and keeping their customers safe. Do their bosses answer? Fire them. In the end, it’s probably for the best. Let’s hope this boss gets caught one day, though (via Food Is In The House).
