A former Scientologist claimed that the controversial church influenced Cruise to divorce Kidman. They were one of the most popular couples of the ’90s and even starred in a movie together. But this story had a sad ending and became one of the most highly publicized celebrity divorces ever (via Us Magazine).

However, it was a joyous moment for Kidman when they finally signed terms. She raised her arms to the heavens in relief after she stepped out of the attorney’s office. Later, Kidman said that it was a mistake to marry when she was so young. She said that she was looking for protection in a vicious industry.
