These Online Posts Are So Stupid You’ll Give Up On Humanity

Monica May 29, 2024

Everyone loves a good laugh, especially in the age of constant online connection through smartphones and other devices. There’s nothing like reading online posts that contain hilarious texts or watching a person completely fail at something on a dramatic video that makes us feel better about our own lack of coordination. While some of these texts, photos, and videos make us feel better, admittedly some make us feel much worse.

But while they’re funny at first, there’s something eerily accurate about them that makes us fear for the future of humanity. We’ve curated a list of these types of random, hilarious posts that will showcase the way society is taking a turn for the better or worse, depending on how you look at it.

The Plate Of Ham

There’s nothing better than watching a beautiful wedding video, only to suddenly see a zoomed-in image of a plate of ham. When you hire someone to take photos for your wedding, you expect them to use their creative talent and capture some of the most beautiful, artistic parts of your wedding. It’s one of the best souvenirs to have from your special day, and in decades to come is something you’ll want to look back on. Unfortunately, this couple now has to look back on this plate of ham for the rest of eternity (via Lux and Lush).

Please Ignore The Owl

When we have a new plant setup in our home, we want our friends to see it straight away. We never know how long our plants will last, and just having a plant setup is just part of feeling like an adult. This person’s friend gave them a 9/10 rating for their plant setup, which is pretty high. But the normalcy stopped there when they mentioned the sneaky owl in the corner of the photo. Why is the owl there? Their friend pointed it out and specifically asked them to please ignore the owl. What has humanity turned into? We now have more questions than not (via Reddit).

Reddit

At Least Someone Loves You

This person was sitting outside, waiting to get picked up, when beetles started crawling on them. They turned to their mom for help. Instead of telling them what to do or helping them get rid of the beetles, she said, “At least someone loves you.” That’s probably the last thing you’d expect your mom to say to you. Is this what parenthood has turned into? Let’s hope this turns around, otherwise, there is no hope for humanity or the future of our children (via Reddit).

Reddit

What’s Your Plans Tonight?

When your friend asks you what your plans are for that evening, what do you say? You either tell them the truth, say you’re busy, or say you’re planning on lying in front of your television to mindlessly scroll through reality TV channels. This Reddit user posted this screenshot of their conversation with their friend that makes us fear for humanity. Is this how friends talk to each other nowadays? They said, “Something tells me they don’t want to hang out.” They got that one right. Maybe it’s best not to keep them around as a friend anymore (via Reddit).

Reddit

Hangry

When you send your kids to school with a packed lunch, it’s guaranteed they’ll feel satiated and nourished. But when you rely on the school lunches, you never know what they’re going to get. This Reddit user posted this photo with the caption, “Daughter forgot her lunch today and had to eat the school lunch.” This is what happens when your kid doesn’t have a packed lunch. The fact that schools can serve this sort of food is terrifying and means humanity is taking a turn for the worse. She hilariously captured her feelings with the school lunch and mentioned several times how she was hungry. She ended the description by saying the school lunch tastes like “plaid,” whatever that means (via Reddit).

Reddit

In The 9th Dimension

What would you do if your sibling texted you, “Help, I’m in the 9th dimension.” Would you call the cops? Run straight over to their home to get them out of the 9th dimension? Assume they smoked too much? This isn’t a text you want to receive, and it’s a terrifying situation for their sibling to be in. At least they sent several descriptive photos that likely encapsulate how they’re feeling (via Reddit).

Reddit

Getting Naked

If your friend sends you a text saying, “Do you want a picture of me getting naked,” your first reaction would probably be to ask if they were hacked. That’s not a normal text to receive or send. At least this friend wasn’t hacked, and was, quite literally, getting Naked. Juice, that is. Their friend has to give them some credit for their cleverness, even if it probably did send them into a panic (via Reddit).

Reddit

Wrong Number

This Reddit user posted this hilarious photograph with the caption, “Some lass texted my number by mistake, and couldn’t help but play along.” There’s nothing better than trolling a random number, especially when it lands in your lap. Keelie didn’t expect to receive a funny picture from a random guy, especially when she thought she was texting her girlfriend. This text exchange proves that humanity is changing into a comical spiral (via Reddit).

Not Interested

Thanks to Facebook, it’s easy to buy and sell things. Before Marketplace existed, we had to search for garage sales and wait to hear about sales through word of mouth. But there was some beauty in that because Facebook now opened a channel for pointless conversations. There’s zero point if asking if something is available if you’re not interested in it. It’s a waste of everyone’s time. People like wasting each other’s time. If that’s the annoying way humanity is going, we don’t want any part of it (via Lux and Lush).

Something Smells Fishy

It’s frustrating when things don’t work out, especially when it’s an ATM. We expect to use an ATM and get money out. But when you try and get someone to fix something and they never do, you just have to take matters into your own hands. This person did just that. When the ATM at the bank was broken for the hundredth time, they decided not to wait any longer. They grabbed a fish and taped it to the ATM to try and prove their point. We’re not sure if this was planned, or if they happened to have a fish in their bag, but either way, it’s hilarious. At least he’s proud of his actions, even though it makes us slightly fear for humanity (via Lux and Lush).

Reddit

Jobless Kid

We can’t be angry at this mom for speaking the truth. Do we sense a little bit of saltiness? This mother wants her kid to get a job. Truthfully, her kid is in no real position to say adult life isn’t great if they don’t understand what it’s like to have a nine-to-five job. One day they’ll learn. Hopefully. By the looks of it, it might be sooner than later, especially if their mom has a say in it (via Reddit).

Lux And Lush

Do Plants Sneeze

The mere fact that this student conducted this experiment for their school project makes us fear for the future of humanity. Even though no stupid questions exist, this just might be the first one. Plants don’t sneeze, but this student had to conduct an entire experiment involving pepper, feet, and feathers just to prove it. We’ll give them credit for their courage, though. They deserve an A+ in that regard (via Lux and Lush).

Lux And Lush

No It’s Red

Negotiating prices is always a good idea. There’s a good chance you’ll get something for a cheaper price, and the money you save is money used elsewhere. But this is only applicable when it’s a fair negotiation. When you’re trying to haggle something for hundreds of times less than it’s worth, it’s ridiculous. This person made us lose faith in humanity when they tried to negotiate a $19,000 car for a mower. At least this person was onto them and asked them if it was made of gold. If it was, the seller would probably reconsider, but since it’s a simple red mower, they said no (via Lux and Lush).

Am Lost

It’s not uncommon for an Uber driver to take longer than expected, especially when it’s a new area and the streets are confusing. When this Uber driver tried to pick up this customer, they got lost. When they checked the status of their location, they noticed something was wrong. Their Uber driver was in the middle of the ocean. Their Uber driver acted nonchalantly and simply replied they were lost. Maybe their car turned into a boat on the water. Either way, let’s hope their driver eventually made it, otherwise, we’ve completely lost faith in humanity and the future of Uber (via Lux and Lush).

Reddit

Fun With Wrong Numbers

That’s one way to ruin an entire marriage. Imagine receiving this text message the day before your friend’s wedding, thinking it was Lily. Hopefully, Alice was able to resolve it and quickly realized Lily did not sleep with Edith’s boyfriend. Either way, it’s a hilarious way to spice up the stressful days before a wedding, when everyone is already severely on edge (via Reddit).

Reddit

What’s Going On Here?

This Reddit user posted this photo with the caption, “When you and your best friend fill the screen with unsent messages.” We’re sure they’re not the only ones to do this, though it makes you question what their conversation was about. Was it something juicy? Were they planning to take over the world, and don’t want anyone to know about it? Either way, let’s hope they’ve found other hobbies and have something better to do than un-send messages to each other (via Reddit).

The Simple Compliment

Men act in mysterious ways, and women might always feel like they can never fully grasp what’s going on in a man’s head. Women will always take advice about how to win a man over or make him notice her. Based on this insider secret, this is the way humanity is going. Men are so starved of attention, that any compliment is enough to get them interested in you. It looks like we’ll have to turn to Twitter nowadays to learn a bit more about half of society, which is pretty sad. Society places a lot of pressure on men to act a certain way, and it doesn’t look like that’s going to change anytime soon (via Lux and Lush).

Send A Photo

Older people using technology makes us laugh. They have no idea what they’re doing, and a lot of the time, end up completely failing. That’s why the younger generation is here to help. When this old person responded to an interested buyer who asked them to send a photo, they did just that. They probably assumed they wanted to make sure they were a real person. While it’s obvious they wanted a photo of the car, it’s adorable that this old man assumed the buyer wanted a photo of him. Maybe the buyer will send a selfie back (via Lux and Lush).

Lux And Lush

April Foul

There’s nothing like a good April Fool’s joke, especially when it comes from your grandma. This grandma wanted to join in on the fun and play a harmless joke on their grandchild. Even though it’s clear this grandma is a little rusty in the jokes department, it’s still adorable and hilarious that she even tried. She probably fooled her grandkid for a millisecond, even though it was quickly obvious it was a joke (via Lux and Lush).

Lux And Lush

He Is Called Rob

We’ll have to give it to the responder, they’re technically not wrong. The question was, “What is a person from London called?” And while the answer might make us lose faith in humanity just a little bit, the responder answered as honestly as they could. They have a neighbor from London, and they’re called Rob, though the person asking the question was looking for a different answer. Rob sounds like a nice Londoner (via Lux and Lush).

French Fry Costumes

Happy Halloween! If there’s one thing about American citizens, they find a way to eat unhealthy fried foods on a stick. There’s something about licking grease and fatty oil off a post that they love. And if it involves potatoes, they love it even more. If you look at this picture quickly, it does look like two people dressed up in costumes. But upon further inspection, you’ll notice that it’s just a bunch of fatty food on a stick. It’s horrible to think people put this in their bodies and makes us fear for the future of humanity and the way the world is going. Hopefully, these people enjoyed it and never ate it again (via Lux and Lush).

Couldn’t Get Any Cheesier

Gender reveal parties are an exciting way to tell your friends and families about your baby-to-be. There’s nothing better than the joy you’ll feel when you see that blue or pink item. This family decided to have their gender reveal party at a pizza place. We appreciate their involvement, but wouldn’t you think they’d be a little bit more sophisticated? Not only did they simply write “GIRL” on the pizza, but they did so in such a crude fashion, that the olives aren’t even in the center of the pizza, and there’s a huge hole in the L. Let’s hope the future of humanity doesn’t involve gender reveal parties at pizza places (via Lux and Lush).

Reddit

Sounds Like A Good Time

Based on this person’s license plate, it sounds like they know how to have a good time. Not only is KFC involved, but BJ69 is also. Let’s hope it’s a joke, though, because if this is what the world is turning into, we’re going to hide away in a cabin on a mountain (via Reddit).

Lux And Lush

Oops

Accidentally sending the wrong message or GIF to someone during a serious conversation is embarrassing. It’s especially embarrassing if the words “I didn’t cheat on you” came directly before it. When you’re trying to beg for someone’s forgiveness, the last thing you want to do is send them a giant cat sitting in the middle of a traffic jam. It’s a hilarious photo in any other situation except this one, though we can all agree this conversation needed some sort of comedic relief (via Lux and Lush).

Reddit

Just To Make It More Confusing

As if the world wasn’t confusing enough, someone decided to name the tenth month of the year October, while Oct means eight. Shouldn’t October be the eighth month, and August be the tenth month? Once we start thinking about it too much, it hurts our heads. We’ll just pretend we didn’t know this information and instead accept it for what it is (via Reddit).

Lux And Lush

He Looks Polite

If there’s any post that has given us the slightest hope for humanity, it’s this one. This landlord first said no pets are allowed in the apartment, but once they sent a photo of their potential pet, the landlord changed his mind. It’s hilarious because this frog isn’t real and is a statue. Regardless, he does look very polite and won’t cause any trouble. Way to go, the landlord (via Lux and Lush).

Reddit

The Wife Didn’t Like The Joke

Couples nowadays face a new slew of stressors that the older generation didn’t face. This includes social media, school debt, and even fortune tellers. It’s just the way humanity is going. When this husband got this fortune with his Chinese food, he probably laughed. How did it know they were destined to be in a distant relationship? Maybe the fortune felt their struggles and decided to hint at a secret message to them. But the wife didn’t find it funny at all, and it probably caused a big fight to break out. We’re glad we’re only seeing one part of it and not the argument itself (via Reddit).

Lux And Lush

Brisket Is More Important

When there’s a family group chat, you can expect chaos. This rings even more true when there are many generations in one group chat. You’ll get opinions from all sides and unsolicited advice you could probably do without. Instead of getting the support the mom probably wanted, her father sent her a photo of the delicious brisket he made that day. That’s one way to lighten up the somber mood, and we can’t help but laugh. It’s adorable, considering the grandpa probably didn’t realize the dire situation the group chat was in before sending the photograph (via Lux and Lush).

Reddit

Special Plum Cake

This Reddit user posted a photo of the special plum cake their mother made them. While there’s nothing wrong with baking your child a cake, there are times when you need to check on the shape of the cake. Like this one. Instead of baking a plum cake, their mom cooked up an inappropriate plum cake that would make any adult’s eyes immediately divert in the other direction (via Reddit).

Reddit

The Absence Of Time And Space

What would you do in the absence of time and space? Probably transcend to another dimension. This person said they “found this new chocolate bar at a grocery store and couldn’t help but buy it. We’re not sure what 128% dark chocolate tastes like, but it’s definitely not the first bar we would pick up at the shop (via Reddit).

Reddit

Verified User

On this person’s way to work this morning, they saw this sign before entering the elevator. Would you still use the elevator if you saw this? The more adventurous half of you would, while the other half would turn the other way. It depends on what kind of morning you want to have, and if you want to risk getting trapped in an elevator. We’re not sure it’s worth the risk, though it makes a good excuse for missing a meeting (via Reddit).

Reddit

Shoes For Children

The sign says, “shoes for children,” though because the S is broken, it conveys an entirely different message. The caption reads, “Kids are so spoiled these days,” and if that’s the way we’re looking at it, we completely fear for the future of humanity. Let’s hope the owners of this shop managed to fix their sign by morning, otherwise, it might upset a lot of people (via Reddit).

Reddit

Sorry, Ostrich

Somehow, this piece of wood managed to mimic itself to look like an ostrich. It’s not every day you see the lines of wood perfectly arranged to look like an animal’s face, though it raises another question. Is it by chance, or did an ostrich run into it as this person suggests? How are the construction workers supposed to use this piece of wood? We’re concerned for their well-being and the well-being of the ostrich who happened to run into this piece of wood (via Reddit).

Lux And Lush

Forbidden Love

The world is just unfair! Why can’t humans and dogs be in a relationship? While the thought is obvious and makes us uncomfortable, this photograph raises tons of questions. First of all, why is there a dog on a dating app? And why did this person swipe right? Let’s hope both of them misunderstood the situation and it was a mere accident, otherwise, there would be a lot of problems. And since when were dogs on dating apps? (via Lux and Lush).

Lux And Lush

Empty The Canister

When we get something for free, it’s important to be grateful. It’s free after all, and you’re not really in a position to complain. When this person gave away their vacuum for free, they were doing a good deed for the world. It’s not easy giving away something for free and without the expectation to receive something back. While most people are appreciative, others are not, as we can see here. These people make us fear for humanity’s future (via Lux and Lush).

Lux And Lush

Bugging Out

Security systems are a great way to prevent theft and keep your home safe and secure, especially while you’re sleeping or on a vacation. But what happens when your security camera captures a bug that’s the size of a human? What do you do then? We’re not a fan of bugs, especially when they’re this big and mistaken for the size of a human being. Let’s hope the bug somehow managed to magnify itself to the point of looking like a person (via Lux and Lush).

Reddit

Hi, Grandma

It’s not every day your grandma sends you a bread bear. This person was lucky enough to receive just that. After their grandma send good morning, she sent her grandchild a bread bear. Let’s hope they got to devour that bread bear, because it looks delicious, though let’s also hope this isn’t the way family members conduct conversations nowadays. Otherwise, humanity has a big issue in the world of communication (via Reddit).
