These days, Downey Jr. is one of Hollywood’s biggest stars and a box office giant. But this wasn’t always the case because he spent time in and out of rehab and jail. He had a bad upbringing because his father introduced him to drugs when he was just six years old (via Decider).

This unsurprisingly had a terrible impact on his life. He became one of Hollywood’s bad boys before he made the brave decision to turn sober. This changed his career because it also made it easier for production companies to insure him. The stability helped him become the legend that he is now.

Lindsay Lohan

Lohan once told Oprah Winfrey that she used cocaine 10 to 15 times per day. It’s no wonder that she’s been to rehab more than almost everybody else on this list. She’s received multiple court orders and also checked herself into different facilities to deal with her addiction.

However, Lohan proved that rehab isn’t a miracle cure. She rejected it several times because she thought it was a waste of time. This shows that patients, famous or not, must enter with an open mind and want to become better.
