Grease (1978)
Grease is seen as one of the best movies of the 1970s. People couldn’t get enough of Danny Zuko and his lover Sandy. Viewers memorized the lyrics to all of the songs. But if you watched the movie nowadays, you’d realize how sexist it is. Not only does it portray male aggression, but it portrays racism, homophobia, and bullying. At least Olivia Newton-John, who portrayed Sandy, didn’t think it was offensive. She said, “It was a stage play, it’s a musical, it’s fun. It’s a fun movie musical not to be taken so seriously.” Besides, the movie came out several decades ago. Times were way different back then. In response to the critics they now call snowflakes, one viewer tweeted, “If you’ve ever felt joy while watching one of the greatest, most uplifting films EVER then I’m afraid you’re going to hell. Here’s an idea woke-sters: Go make your own musical” (via The Pink News).
