We all love a good ghost story, especially when it’s based on a supposedly true experience. As a kid, we might’ve had a creepy ghost encounter ourselves. Whether it was a ghost or our imagination running wild, we’ll never know. Regardless, hearing other people’s ghost stories is just as good, especially because it’s not us it happened to. So we’ve collected some of the most chilling real-life scares on the internet that happened to people in broad daylight.

These aren’t scares that happened by mistake and led to an embarrassing moment either, they’re pretty scary. Whether that was horse legs appearing out of nowhere, a mysterious moving couch in the middle of the night, or an empty movie theater, these stories will give you goosebumps.

30. Horse Leg

We’ve all heard of a dead pigeon appearing on a driveway usually from a dog or cat. But a horse leg? This is one of those real-life scares that make our jaw drop, run inside our houses, and lock the door. Someone living on a farm found a full horse leg, hip still attached, in their driveway. Since they live in Canberra, Australia, a lion or bear wasn’t to blame. That’s pretty creepy. If you’ve ever snuck past the movie theater ticket collector as a kid, you’re not alone. We’ve all done it once or twice, maybe more. But what if there was no ticket collector? Or no employees? Or no other people? We’re not sure if we’d even go into the movie theater, but that didn’t stop this Reddit user. They entered a completely abandoned but operable movie theater, watched a movie, and left, without seeing another person the entire time. This is one of those real-life scares that’d make us believe we entered the Twilight Zone. Nonetheless, it’s a good story. At least they got a free movie out of it (via alrxa).

Alright, if we saw this, we’d bolt out the back door and never look back. Seriously, we’re surprised this Reddit user stood there and watched someone tie a rope to their front door. Real-life scares like these are the ones that shorten our lives by a decade. It’s such a strange scenario. What were they doing? Trying to lock them in the house? It doesn’t make any sense. What’s even scarier is that they live in a remote area with no other neighbors around. At least they managed to call the police and were left unharmed (via m1shmc).

We’d run the other way. These kinds of strange, one-off real-life scares are something we like to avoid. This is something that’s probably happened to more people than we think. It’s something that should be checked by a psychologist, but at least this Reddit user was able to snap out of it. It was probably triggered by smoking. We can’t imagine sitting in a familiar place, and then suddenly being unable to recognize where you are. That sounds horrible and is one of those real-life scares that we hope would never, ever happen to us. This Reddit user sounds like they handled it pretty well, by only shaking their head in a “no” gesture, and somehow managing to shake it off. This sounds like a living nightmare and something from a horror movie. It’s one of those real-life scares you wish you could remove from your memory. We feel sorry for this Reddit user. They’re probably scarred for life. We sure would be. We can’t even imagine what that man was going through, and why he was so calm about the whole thing. Is it because of the intersection’s layout? Or is it because it’s haunted? These kinds of real-life scares make us question the world.
