Being a surgeon is hard, but it pays off financially.
4. Surgeons Brought Home Over a Quarter Million Dollars in 2019
Surgeons come next on the list of highest-paying jobs in America in 2019. They brought home an average income of $252,910, over a quarter of a million dollars, for 2019. That is over $20,000 a month. Granted, the starting salary is much lower, but the highest-paid surgeons make well above $252K.
Like anesthesiologists, surgeons have to pay a lot of money in malpractice insurance. They also have to have incredibly steady hands, as one slip of the finger can mean life or death for the patient. They also have to work long hours and be alert for procedures that can take 12 hours or longer. If you have what it takes and are looking for a high-paying job, surgeon might be the answer.
