Monica January 26, 2024

We all have bad days. It’s simply part of being human. But sometimes, these bad days are so horrendous, that we simply can’t understand why they would happen to us.

Yet even though there’s always someone having a better day than you, just remember, there’s also someone having a worse day than you. In fact, it’s often way worse. So we curated a list of people who had comically horrendous days. Hopefully, you can read these and they’ll make your day seem a little bit brighter.

Bad Car Day

You might be having a bad day, but well, at least you didn’t drive your car half off a ledge. It’s understandable if there’s black ice, but that doesn’t make it any better. Not only are these people now lacking a car, but they have to call a tow truck. There’s nothing worse than getting in your car to drive home, only to have it get completely stuck. Let’s hope their heater worked properly while they waited for the tow (via Reddit).

The Worst Move-In Day Ever

A move-in day never seems to be stress-free. For some reason, it always ends up being the most difficult day ever. But if you thought your move-in day was frustrating, it can’t be worse than this person’s. Not only did they get the wrong key to their apartment, but they broke their computer desk, tried to move their bed during an unannounced carpet cleaning, dropped their vacuum down a flight of stairs, and got a 119 dollar ticket for speeding. To top it all off, it was pouring rain and their birthday. It sounds like a catastrophic move-in day and adheres to Murphy’s Law of what can go wrong, will go wrong (via Reddit).

Snowed In The Garage

The main purpose of a garage is to keep things safe, secure, and dry. You have a garage to protect your cars from the elements. But this person had a horrendous day when their garage failed to do the one job it had. The snow from the blizzard managed to seep into their garage and cover just about everything it could in several inches of snow. Not only do these Reddit users seem shocked, but so does their cat (via Reddit).

Not A Great Birthday

Birthdays are special whether you want them to be or not. So when your friends tell you they’ll call you on your birthday, you expect them to stick to their word. This person had a bad birthday. Three of their friends said they’d call, but they didn’t. The one person who did call was someone who used to bully him in high school, which just added to the pain. We’re not sure what’s worse, this birthday or the horrendous move-in day birthday (via Reddit).

The Explosive Battery

This is what an exploding battery looks like. When this Reddit user’s friend’s battery exploded, it not only signed their car but their entire garage and all of the contents inside. Everything is melted and completely ruined. It not only cost thousands of dollars to repair, but another few thousand to replace everything (via Reddit).

Record Snowfall

When you leave town, it’s important to make sure the doors and windows of your house are closed and locked. This also includes your car. If you leave your car door unlocked or your window open, you’re putting it up for risk of theft. Or, in this case, risk of it filling up with snow. This Reddit user’s neighbor left the car window open before Nashville had a record snowfall. That’s one annoying mess they’ll have to deal with when they’re back from vacation (via Reddit).

Relocating House

When we relocate our homes, it usually means we move to a new home. In this case, relocation meant moving the actual house into the middle of the street thanks to a tornado. Tornadoes are an act of power from Mother Nature, and they’re not to be messed with. They can easily destroy towns, homes, and lives in a matter of seconds. But this home tried to fight back even though it lost. The tornado moved it into the middle of the street. At least the house is still intact. Do they have tow trucks for this sort of thing? (via Reddit).

Use A Handbrake

There’s a reason they build cars with handbrakes. Even though most people don’t use the handbrake when they park their car, there are times when you need to. This photo is reason enough to use a handbrake, even if you’re not parked on a slope. Someone who parked on a ferry forgot to put their handbrake on, and the result is detrimental. Their car slid off the ferry and into the ocean. Unfortunately, there’s no way they can get their car back, and if they manage to, it’s just ruined (via Reddit).

The Unfortunate Lime

Growing your own fruits, like limes, gives you a sense of accomplishment since you made it yourself. It always tastes better than what you buy in the store, since it’s not only organic but full of love. When this person cut open their homegrown lime, they were more than disappointed. There was no juice inside their lime. It seems like their lime doesn’t even exist. At least they can always try again (via Reddit).

Itchy Wrist

There’s nothing worse than having an itch you can’t locate or scratch. Sometimes, it seems like there’s an invisible itch, and no matter where you scratch, it won’t go away. But what’s even worse than that is having an itch you can’t get to, for example, underneath a cast. This person has an itchy wrist and all they can do is sit there and deal with it. There’s no saying how long they’ll be able to deal with that pain (via Reddit).

Uncanny Similarities

When you fit the description of a wanted criminal, there’s not much you can do. We don’t have control over who we look like, and if there’s a doppelgänger out there, it’s out of our hands. Usually, they’re just a normal person. But this person happens to look exactly like a wanted criminal. Not only that, but the wanted criminal happens to live in his hometown. The man underneath the first photo was stopped by the police because of the similarities. He had to spend hours convincing the police he was not a criminal. Hopefully, they catch the real suspect, who’s still on the loose (via Reddit).

An Old Pair Of Shoes

Shoes are made to last. Some people keep shoes for decades. But that’s not always the case. When this Reddit user had their first day back in the office from vacation when it was -9 degrees, they pulled out a pair of boots they hadn’t worn in a while. During the walk to the train station, they completely disintegrated and fell apart. They needed to introduce themselves to their employee wearing a pair of tattered boots (via Reddit).

Wrong Place, Wrong Time

Parking your car outside in the street comes with its risks. You never know what can happen to your car, whether that’s someone hitting it, stealing it, or, in this case, a tree falling on top of it. Natural disasters always win, and they can cause massive destruction when we least expect it. This person happened to park their car under a tree, and it fell right where the car was parked. There’s no reviving that car, unfortunately. It looks like it’s time for them to buy a new one (via Reddit).

First Day Luck

This unfortunate man was unemployed for nine months and had a lot of trouble finding work that wasn’t part-time. When he found a permanent job, he was so excited about it, that he got into a terrible accident. He slipped on the carpet on his first day and hurt his leg. It looks like something doesn’t want him to get a job and has to stay unemployed unless he can find a desk job that lets him sit all day while his leg heals (via Reddit).

Hair Cactus

It’s not every day you get a cactus stuck in your hair. Usually, it’s a piece of chewing gum or food. While getting chewing gum stuck in your hair is frustrating, a cactus has to be a lot worse. Where would you even start? This person had to wear gloves to get the cactus out of their hair. And it’s not like she can just cut a small piece of hair off to get rid of the cactus, she’d have to remove a large chunk of hair across her entire head. There’s no saying how she managed to get the cactus there in the first place, but whatever chain of events led to this is pretty unfortunate (via Reddit).

Bad Karma

When houses are built, they’re built with support in mind. Imagine you had a long, busy day at work, and then you came home to this? This person’s ceiling collapsed into their living room and knocked over a bunch of their things. There’s no saying what karma this person did to deserve such a tragic outcome, but now it’s something they’ll have to deal with for a while. That’s a lot to deal with on a weekday. At that point, they might just want to throw their hands in the air (via Reddit).

Allergic To Cats

Allergies aren’t fun. They’re the most frustrating, annoying things that happen to us. You need to actively avoid certain things at all times so it doesn’t trigger your allergies, and need to constantly be on guard. But sometimes, coming into contact with something that triggers your allergies is unavoidable. This Reddit user is allergic to cats. You’d think they’d avoid cats at all costs. Unfortunately, they accidentally slept near a cat and woke up with a swollen and puffy face. Luckily, it wasn’t serious, just more of a nuisance (via Reddit).

The Wrong Pair Of Shoes

It’s not often you leave your house with a pair of shoes and return later in the day with another person’s pair of shoes. That’s exactly what happened to this person, who spent the day at a trampoline park. When they finished jumping around, they put on what they thought were their pair of shoes. It seemed like the same color and the same size. But when they got back home later in the day, they realized they had the wrong pair of shoes and accidentally stole someone else’s. We’re not sure if they went back and tried to return the shoes or just kept them (via Reddit).

Up In Flames

This person spent two years chopping firewood in the hopes of storing it and using it for a very long time. When they reached their goal, they felt proud of themselves. But after those two years of hard work, all of it went up in flames and destroyed everything in a matter of seconds. The entire barn burned down. It makes sense, since wood burns and it’s a very flammable situation. There’s no worse way to start your day than with everything you’ve worked towards going up in flames (via Reddit).

Castle In The Clouds

Hiking to a beautiful view is one of the most rewarding things you can do. It’s one of the best parts about traveling. Besides, you get to see something that not many people get to see in an entire lifetime. But when this person went on a long hike to find a view of a castle, they were met with a wall of clouds. The castle is there, behind the clouds, but they can’t see anything. There’s nothing worse than doing something strenuous only to be met with bad weather. Hopefully, they can hike on a day when it’s not as cloudy (via Reddit).

Infested With Spiders

Buying secondhand items comes with risks and rewards. You end up saving tons of money, but you risk buying broken or dirty items. This person bought a new van. They thought they scored an incredible deal, it came at a cost. They kept finding spider webs in the car, so they decided to get it checked for bugs. The worst-case scenario happened. The entire van was infested with Black Widow spiders. At least it was the car shop that found the spider before it was too late (via Reddit).

Ripped Pants

On someone’s wedding day, you want to look as fashionable as possible. It’s the one day where all of your friends and family are gathered around together, watching you on the biggest day of your life. Unfortunately, this man had the unfortunate experience of ripping his pants during the big day. To top it all off, he chose to go commando that day. The entire party saw more than they expected to (via Reddit).

Exploding Can Of Soda

When below-freezing temperatures come around, strange things happen. One of those things includes exploding cans of soda, as this Reddit user experienced. Imagine opening up your car on your way to work, only to see this sticky substance frozen at the door of your car. There’s no saying if you should leave it or not since it’s going to be a mess no matter what (via Reddit).

30 Flat Tires

Imagine driving down the highway and getting a flat tire. While that’s stressful enough, imagine 29 other cars also getting a flat tire at the same time. That’s exactly what happened to this highway when one small box of nails flew out of another car and landed on the highway. It’s funny that one box of nails could cause so many flat tires, but it might even seem like more of a business scheme for tire replacements. But those who had to deal with the flat tires didn’t think it was funny at all. Let’s hope no one was in a rush that day (via Reddit).

Stove Is Occupied

Fixing up your home is standard practice. You’ll want a new bathroom, new floors, and new kitchen appliances at some point. But when this Reddit user decided to fix up their house and get a new stove, they realized they had to wait. There was a family of animals already nestled inside. They had to postpone the renovations until they could figure out where to relocate the little animals, who looked so cozy and happy inside. Technically, they were there first, and if it’s something the owners never use, there’s no reason to remove them just yet (via Reddit).

Painting Your Car

There’s something so exciting about a fresh coat of paint. It’s a way to spruce up your home or car and make it look fresh and new. These people headed to the paint shop to buy a new bucket of paint. But on their way home, something went wrong. When they pulled over and opened the trunk, they found out their bucket of paint exploded and spilled over their entire car. They had to spend days cleaning it instead of painting their walls (via Reddit).

Leaving The Proof Behind

When you’re driving, you not only have to be careful about how you’re driving but also how other people are driving. Hit and runs are common occurrences unfortunately. This person got into an unfortunate hit-and-run accident even though they were following the rules. But even though the person drove off after hitting them, they left behind evidence in the form of a license plate. Karma had a different plan for them and there’s no way they’re going to get away with it (via Reddit).

The Mysterious Pile Of Gravel

It’s not every day you find a mysterious pile of gravel in your driveway. That’s exactly what happened to this person, who came home one evening to a mysterious few tons of gravel in his driveway. There was no description, no note, and no explanation. How do you even get rid of this pile? There’s no saying what he could do to get rid of it. Maybe he could use it for something? Either way, it’s his problem now (via Reddit).

4)reddit
Reddit

The Only Key

There’s a risk that comes with only having one key to your home or garage. This person only had one key. When they tried to use it in their garage, it completely ripped out. Half of it got stuck in the lock. Now, there’s no way they’re getting into their garage without completely taking off their lock and replacing it with a new one (via Reddit).

3)reddit
Reddit

Mid-Climb

Climbing with glasses is risky, especially when you’re high up, outside, and exposed to all the elements. It’s even worse if you completely rely on your glasses to see. This person was mid-climb when their glasses fell off of their face and down the cliff. Let’s hope he was able to complete the hike, otherwise, there’s no saying how he would finish it if he couldn’t see (via Reddit).

Reddit

Allergic To Almost Everything

As we’ve already mentioned, allergies are not fun. When this person decided to do an allergy test on 69 different items, they discovered that they were allergic to 60 out of the 69 items. That’s pretty much everything. This test doesn’t look fun for them either, considering they’ve broken out in hives across their entire back. Let’s hope the hives don’t last long for them (via Reddit).
